چکیده

Electroweak radiative corrections with double-log enhancements occur in inclusive observables at the TeV scale because of a lack of compensation of virtual corrections with real emission due to the nonabelian (weak isospin) charges of the accelerator beams. Here we evaluate such Bloch-Nordsieck violating corrections in the case of initial longitudinal bosons, which is experimentally provided by boson fusion processes, and is related to the GoldstoneHiggs sector. All four states of this sector are involved in the group structure of the corrections, and cause in particular a novel double log effect due to hypercharge mixing in the longitudinal states. We study both the lightand the heavy-Higgs cases, and we analyze the symmetry breaking pattern of the corrections. The latter turn out to be pretty large, in the 5-10 % range, and show an interesting Higgs mass dependence, even for processes without Higgs boson in the final state. Work supported in part by EU QCDNET contract FMRX-CT98-0194 and by MURST (Italy).

Bloch-nordsieck violating electroweak corrections to inclusive TeV scale hard processes

We point out that, since the colliders' initial states ( e(+)e(-),pp, p&pmacr;,ellipsis) carry a definite non-Abelian flavor, electroweak radiative corrections to inclusive hard cross sections at the TeV scale are affected by peculiar Bloch-Nordsieck violating double logs. We recall the setup of soft cancellation theorems, and we analyze the magnitude of the noncanceling terms in the example of...

Weak Boson Emission in Hadron Collider Processes

The O(α) virtual weak radiative corrections to many hadron collider processes are known to become large and negative at high energies, due to the appearance of Sudakov-like logarithms. At the same order in perturbation theory, weak boson emission diagrams contribute. Since the W and Z bosons are massive, the O(α) virtual weak radiative corrections and the contributions from weak boson emission ...

The Littlest Higgs Model and One-Loop Electroweak Precision Constraints

We present in this talk the one-loop electroweak precision constraints in the Littlest Higgs model, including the logarithmically enhanced contributions from both fermion and scalar loops. We find the one-loop contributions are comparable to the tree level corrections in some regions of parameter space. A low cutoff scale is allowed for a non-zero triplet VEV. Constraints on various other param...

Electroweak Sudakov Logarithms and Real Gauge-Boson Radiation in the TeV Region

Electroweak radiative corrections give rise to large negative, double-logarithmically enhanced corrections in the TeV region. These are partly compensated by real radiation and, moreover, affected by selecting isospin-noninvariant external states. We investigate the impact of real gauge boson radiation more quantitatively by considering different restricted final state configurations. We consid...

Next-to-leading order QCD corrections to Z boson pair production via vector-boson fusion

Vector-boson fusion processes are an important tool for the study of electroweak symmetry breaking at hadron colliders, since they allow to distinguish a light Higgs boson scenario from strong weak boson scattering. We here consider the channels WW →ZZ and ZZ→ZZ as part of electroweak Z boson pair production in association with two tagging jets. We present the calculation of the NLO QCD correct...
